Relaxin <\/strong>1<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

Relaxin 1 may function in regulating blood pressure, controlling heart rate, and releasing oxytocin and vasopressin<\/p>\n

Relaxin <\/strong>2<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

Of the three known relaxin genes, Relaxin-2 (RLN2) is the only relaxin known to circulate in the blood. Relaxin-2 binds specifically to the LGR7 (leucine-rich repeat-containing G-protein coupled receptor 7) and LGR8 receptors.\u00a0\u00a0Relaxin-2 also participates in cancer progression. In prostate cancer, it is responsible for tumor growth and vascularisation.\u00a0Relaxin-2 is also linked with anti-fibrotic and cardioprotective effects.<\/p>\n

Relaxin<\/strong> 3<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

May play a role in neuropeptide signaling processes. Ligand for LGR7, relaxin-3 receptor-1 (GPCR135) and relaxin-3 receptor-2 (GPCR142).<\/p>\n

Seems to play a role in testicular function. May be a trophic hormone with a role in testicular descent in fetal life. Is a ligand for LGR8 receptor.<\/p>\n

May play an important role in trophoblast development and in the regulation of bone formation.<\/p>\n

INSL <\/strong>5<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

May have a role in gut contractility or in thymic development and regulation. Activates RXFP4 with high potency and appears to be the endogenous ligand for this receptor.<\/p>\n

Hybrid molecule consisting of an A-chain INSL5 and a B-chain Relaxin 3.<\/p>\n
